Kandy MMC does vanishing trick in Japan

ONE of the three UNP Kandy City Fathers who participated in an international ceremony to commemorate the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan is reported missing.

The Japanese Embassy had invited the Kandy Municipal Council to send either the Kandy Mayor or another elected representative to participate in this ceremony. Mayor Kesara Senanayake nominated member Z. A. M. Razik and his name was sent to the Japanese Embassy.

However three UNP members, Z. A. M. Razik, Asmin Marikar and Ajith Rodrigo went to Japan to participate in this ceremony.

Razik and Marikar returned to Sri Lanka while Rodrigo is said to have disappeared from the place he was residing in Japan.

Other city fathers query how three members went to Japan when the invitation was far only one, and the mayor nominated only one.

Senanayake said he nominated only Razik to participate in this trip and he was not aware how the other members had gone.

All expenses except the air passage were met by Japanese Government. When inquired from Rodrigo's family, they said he was out of the country.
