Kadir killing: All evidence points to LTTE

All evidence unearthed by Police investigations into the assassination of Lakshman Kadirgamar clearly indicates that LTTE is responsible for the murder, Cabinet Spokesman and Health, Nutrition and Uva Wellassa Development Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.

Responding to questions raised by the media, Minister de Silva said that Police investigations were proceeding successfully in to the assassination of Minister Kadirgamar.

He refrained from giving details of the probe since it was still on.

He said that on a Memorandum moved by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse the Cabinet decided to erect a statue of Minister Kadirgamar at a prominent place in Colombo. A Cabinet Sub committee comprising Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Dinesh Gunawardena and Ferial Ashraff has been appointed for this purpose, he added.

The Cabinet has also approved another Memorandum presented by Prime Minister Rajapakse to rename the Sri Lanka Institute of International Relations as the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations in honour of the late Minister.
