EU travel ban on LTTE

Wimal lauds President's contribution

JVP Propaganda Secretary and Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa yesterday lauded President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga for her relentless efforts to have the European Union (EU) taken stern action against the LTTE which eventually led to the travel ban on the organisation to EU countries.

Addressing a media briefing in connection with the Presidential campaign of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse, Weerawansa was of the view that President Kumaratunga's constant advocacy at her numerous meetings with EU leaders for firm action against the LTTE went a long way towards the imposition of the ban.
