Work hard for the country, appeals Minister

"Today is a historic day for the Ratnapura district as the distribution of a large number of teaching appointment letters among unemployed graduates take place in the same day by fulfilling a major promise given by the Sandana Government at the last General Election," said Minister of Justice and Judicial Reforms, W. D. J. Seneviratna.

He was addressing a total number of 852 graduate trainees at a ceremony held at Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council auditorium in connection with the distribution of appointment letters unemployed graduates under a concept of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

"With the approval of the cabinet, our government has taken steps to provide jobs for 42,000 graduates disregarding political or other differences," the Minister said.

He appealed to the newly appointed graduate teachers to work hard to create a prosperous nation abound with more and more educated citizens.

Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister, Mahipala Herath said President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, with the idea to put an end to unemployed graduate problem, has instructed to recruit them into the government machinery.

Sabaragamuwa Governor, Reggie Ranatunga, PC Chairman Athula Kumara Rahubadda, PC Ministers, Lalith Dissanaike, Mohan Ellawala, Provincial Councillors, Ranjith Bandara, Chanaka Wakkumbura, Anura Alagiyawanna, Secretary Bandula A. Nagasinghe and Sabaragamuwa Director of Education, W. Dharmadasa also spoke.
