Susil Moonasinghe became the very first Chief
Minister of the Western Province being elected on the UNP ticket and
the UNP winning the very first Provincial Council Election in 1988.
In 1994 he entered Parliament on the UNP ticket. He left the UNP and
joined the SLFP in 2000.
