Rotary Inner Wheel Friendship Village launched
 

The Rotary Club of Wattala held their District Governor's Annual official visit at Hendala recently. The Rotary District Governor Nihal Bogahalanda, Assistant Governor Heinz A Reutor and Mrs. Ruth Reutor were welcomed by the Rotary members and villagers of Avarakotuwa.

Before starting the day's programme the governor unveil a name board to open the "Rotary Inner Wheel Friendship Village" funded and coordinated by both Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Wattala. The Governor and the Assistant Governor handed over donations to some A/L students from the Avarakotuwa village.

Several development projects are undertaken by the Rotary Club of Wattala in association with the Inner Wheel of Wattala in Avarakotuwa village. The Rotary club receives the assistance of sister clubs, the Rotary district and several corporates in funding their projets.

Unemployed women in the village are provided with regular training in handicrafts and making handbags out of "Wetakeiya" leaves. Micro credit facilities have also been extended to find means of self employment for the unemployed.

The sanitation project which has provided over 25 toilets units will be re-launched and 100 such units will be constructed with funding from other Rotary Clubs both local and in UK.
