Qatar Airways wins global award

QATAR Airways has been presented with one of seven prestigious World Travel Market Global Awards at WTM's Opening Ceremony on Monday 14 November.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker, accepted the Award from international theatre producer Kevin Wallace.

WTM's Global Media Network, representing key travel industry media around the world, were invited to nominate companies, who have made a remarkable contribution to their region's travel and tourism industry.

Qatar Airways, nominated by Middle East Travel, is one of the world's fastest growing airlines and has seen an exceptional business performance during 2005. The number of destinations the airline flies to has increased to sixty six and continues to grow.

Additionally, the airline is gaining a growing reputation for their excellent on the ground and inflight service.

Other Global Award winners included Hotels Hesperia, K B Kachru, Executive Vice President South Asia Carlson Hospitality Asia Pacific; Grupo Transhotel, Grigory Antyufeev, Chairman Committee for Tourism Moscow City Government; Acentro Turismo and Tourism Yukon.
