Fiscal officer arrested for soliciting bribe

A Fiscal officer attached to the District Court Gampaha has been arrested when he solicited a Rs. 1,000 bribe from a complainant party over a divorce case yesterday.

Director investigation of the Bribery Commission Superintendent of Police Neville Guruge told the Daily News, that the Gampaha District Court Fiscal solicited Rs. 1,000 to handover a notice to the respondent party over a divorce case from the complainant party.

The Bribery Commission apprehended the suspect with enough evidence to file a case against him, Neville Guruge said.

The suspect has been produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday.
