'LTTE-CWC alliance spell disaster to Tamil people'
by L. B. Wijayasiri in Kandy
Leader of the Upcountry Peoples Front (UPF) P. Chandrasekaran said if
steps were taken to form a common Front of Tamil People in the North and
East and plantation sector as reported to have agreed upon at a
discussion held in the North between CWC leader Arumugam Thondaman and
LTTE Political wing Leader Tamilchelvam, it would be disastrous to the
Tamil people in plantation areas and other parts of the country.
He said such a merger would be beneficial to the people in the North
and the East but not to those Tamil people living in areas other than
the North and the East. Tamil people living in the South of the country
would be subjected to untold hardships in the event of such an
organisation is formed he said.
It would be highly disastrous to Tamil people living in areas out of
the North and East. He would appose any such move since it would cause
harm to the Tamil people inclusive of plantation people Chandrasekaran
told the 'Daily News' UPF leader Chandrasekaran said by the decision
said to have been taken at a meeting of Thondaman and Tamilchelvam it
would have a severe impact on the Tamil people living in areas outside
the North and the East. It would also cause a severe division between
Sinhala and Tamil people living in areas in the South.
His party put all the weight and fight against such a disastrous move
in case, any attempt is made to make it a reality, Chandrasekaran said. |
