The tallest building
 |
The construction of Sri Lanka’s tallest building, Ceylinco Celestial
Residencies is now under way in Colombo 3. The design of this structure
is handled by a fully local consultancy organisation, Design Consortium
Limited (DCL) headed by Architect Prof. Lakshman Alwis. Having 42 levels
above entrance level and 3 levels below, the building will house 184
super luxury apartments in 25 levels on top of a 17 level seven-star
hotel with 240 luxury rooms. Top most level will be a viewing deck and
adequate parking on three levels of above ground parking. The hotel will
be operated by Hyatt International. The architectural design has
combined building features to optimise energy consumption. Separate
studies have been done to calculate and to mitigate the undesirable heat
gain into the building resulting heavy energy bills. The structure is
designed to withstand the all-natural disaster factors envisaged by the
country and the region. Architecturally it is an innovative design with
a unique Sri Lankan identity. The top most level of the hotel will have
a swimming pool with restaurants and public areas. |
