DHL opens Express Centre in Kollupitiya

CENTRE OPENING: DHL Keells (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka's leading express and logistics company, inaugurated its state-of-the-art Express Centre in Galle Road, Colombo 03, and will cater to the increasing demands of DHL's retail customers in Sri Lanka.

The new DHL flagship facility features cutting-edge technology, such as track-and-trace terminals where customers can track their own shipments, and offers a range of products and services including Jumbo Box and Express Pallet targeted at retail customers.

With this latest addition, DHL now has seven Express Centres in Sri Lanka. During the last four years, DHL Keells (Pvt) Ltd. has made significant investments towards the development of infrastructure and facilities in Sri Lanka.

The investments include a new 40,000-square-feet Country Office facility at Vauxhall Street in Colombo.

Slated for completion in November this year, the purpose-built facility will house both the administration an operations arms of DHL in Sri Lanka, and features state-of-the-art shipment handling and security systems, including digital surveillance systems, access control, a Quality Control Centre, and a larger shipment-processing area.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new Service Centre, Chaminda Hewamallika Country Manager, DHL Express Sri Lanka, said, "The retail customer base in Sri Lanka presents us with exciting growth opportunities. We find that more and more individuals are beginning to seek our express delivery services and their needs are quite diverse", He said.

"This investment once again reinforces DHL's leadership position within the industry and our commitment to constantly develop our express network. The new facility will further enhance our network operation by enabling us to provide the highest quality service to all our customers across the country," he added.

DHL's operations in Sri Lanka began in 1980 with an agency agreement with John Keells Holdings, and the business relationship was further strengthened with the signing of a joint venture agreement in January 1992, forming the business entity DHL Keells (Pvt) Ltd.
