Lawyers to tour Australia
COLOMBO: A group of lawyers from Colombo as well as outstations areas
will soon travel to Australia on an educational cum leisure trip.
This visit is being organised by member of the Executive Committee of
the BASL Hemantha Warnakulasuriya. The trip will take place during the
April vacation.
Arrangements are being made specially to facilitate lawyers who have
very little experience in travel and are unable to make arrangements for
themselves. Lawyers practising in the outstations will be especially
invited.
This tour of Australia will take them to Sydney, Cairns, Port Douglas
and one of nature's wonders, the Great Barrier Reef and also Melbourne.
A large number of Sri Lankan lawyers, now domiciled in Sydney and
Melbourne are expected to host the Sri Lankan group and they are in the
process of making arrangements with their local Bar Associations to
enable the touring Sri Lankan lawyers to gain knowledge of the
Australian legal system and the Federal system of governance.

Twelve gold medals for Dr. Ravindra Cooray
RAGAMA: At the recently concluded Convocation of the Ragama Medical
Faculty of the University of Kelaniya, Dr. Ravindra Cooray was conferred
with the MBBS Degree.
He was awarded twelve gold medals for academic excellence and was
placed first in all three examinations with two First Class passes, one
(second) Upper Pass and nine distinctions.
He was placed third in the Merit List for Medical Graduates passing
out in 2004. His entire education was at S. Thomas' College, Mount
Lavinia. He is the grandson of late Dr. Vincent Cooray, Chest Physician,
Galle and the son of Dr. Jayantha Cooray, General Practitioner,
Tissamaharama. |
