Muslim Council to unite political and civil society

COLOMBO: The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka has organised a roundtable conference to bring together the Muslim political leadership and the civil society towards arriving at an common stand, with regard to the future talks with the LTTE.

The MCSL at discussion held with Minister Ferial Ashraff, before her departure for talks with LTTE in Geneva as a member of the GOSL delegation pledged to participated in any endeavours of the MCSL towards this after her return. At the roundtable discussion to be held on March 7, Minister Ashraff is excepted to brief the Muslim Members of Parliament and leaders of the Muslim civil societies on the talks held in Geneva with special reference to the Muslim concerns.

The discussion will also focus steps to be taken for the participation of Muslims as a separate independent entity at any future rounds of discussions by the GOSL with the LTTE.
