Sa concert at Dharmaraja
KANDY: Victor Ratnayake's Sa concert will be held at the Dharmaraja
College, Kandy Auditorium on March 4 at 6.30 p.m.
The show, presented by the Old Rajans Scout Association of Dharmaraja
College, Kandy is a fund-raiser for the Lake View Park International
Scout Centre Development Fund.
Ratnayake's concert will be the 1350th Sa concert. The event will be
the first in a series of events to mark the 100th anniversary of the
first Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group which falls in 2013.
Free workshop
COLOMBO: A free workshop to coincide with international Women's Day
organised by the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Defence Ministry in
collaboration with the Seva Vanitha Army Branch will be held at the
Elphinstone Theatre, Maradana on March 7 from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
Opportunities in modern beauty culture, modelling, handicrafts and
cookery will be introduced and exhibited for participants by veterans.
Special gifts and vouchers will be distributed among participants.
Anura for ITB fair in Berlin
COLOMBO: Tourism Minister Anura Bandaranaike will attend the ITB
World Tourism Fair in Berlin considered to be the biggest Tourism Fair
in the world, to be held on March 10 on Sustainable Tourism.
Bandaranaike will address the forum attended by Tourism Ministers and
media personnel on 'Tourism an effective tool for poverty alleviation'.
He will also preside at a press conference on the opening day of the
Berlin Fair on 'Sri Lanka smiles again' where the recovery after tsunami
will be explained to guests.
Service of Holy Communion
COLOMBO: Rev. Crosbie de Kretser will be the guest preacher at the
Service of Holy Communion on March 5 at 8.45 a.m. He is a Pastor of the
Christian Reformed Church in Calsey, Melbourne, Australia and was
formerly a Minister at DRC Bambalapitiya.
STC Class of '94 Stag Night
MOUNT LAVINIA: The Stag Night of the class of '94 of S. Thomas'
College, Mount Lavinia will be held today at 7 p.m. at the red lobster,
Mount Lavinia. The cricket match sixes between the class of '94 of Royal
and S. Thomas' will be held on March 5 at the Havelock Sports Club.

Krishnamurti talk
COLOMBO: A recorded public talk by the late Indian sage J.
Krishnamurti on what is the place of knowledge in our lives? will be
replayed at the study centre, Duwa Road Beddagana, Kotte on March 5 at
10.30 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the Krishnamurthi Centre, Sri Lanka Inc.
Pilgrims flock to Sri Pada

MASKELIYA: Pilgrims from all parts of the country are flocking to Sri
Pada as the season is in progress. Tourists are among the crowd climbing
the Sri Pada this time.
The number of trains and buses have been increased for pilgrims'
convenience.
Lecture cancelled
COLOMBO: The scheduled lecture of Dr. Daniel Bass for March 9 at 5.30
p.m. at the ICES Auditorium has been cancelled.
Blood donation
KOLONNAWA: A blood donation campaign will be held at the Sri
Gnanawimala Viharaya, Gothatuwa New Town on Saturday under the patronage
of Viharadhipathi Ven Mahara Dammadassi Thera. |
