COLOMBO: The Past Pupils Association of St. Joseph's BMV, Grand Pass, Colombo 14 has organised a walk to mark the school day on March 18.


Get-together

Moratuwa: Holders of the National Diploma in Technology (NDT) Certificate of the Moratuwa University are rendering a great service in the Technical field in Sri Lanka and abroad.

In order to bring all those who followed the course under one banner and to foster cordiality among them, a website will be launched to compile the relevant information of the members and to gather proposals for the development of the NDT course.

A get-together will also be held on Saturday, March 18 from 6.00 p.m. on wards at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla organised by the NDT Students' Association.


Benefit show

COLOMBO: St. Sylvester's College OBA Colombo Branch will be screening the movie, To Sir With Love at the Russian Centre, Colombo 7 on 18th March 2006 at 6.00 p.m. This benefit show is screened to raise funds to award scholarships to deserving students of our alma mater.

This movie, starring Sir Sidney Poitier, Christian Roberts and Judy Geeson portrays the man's ability to adapt, to change the way of thinking and to treat others with respect - an entertaining movie for the entire family.


Sports meet

GAMPAHA:The students of Ceylinco Sussex College, Gampaha, will hold their first Inter-House Track and Field Athletic sports meet on March 17 in their college grounds, commencing at 1.30 p.m.


Seminar for three wheeler drivers

COLOMBO: The Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) Sri Lanka will conduct a series of seminars at provincial level with the co-operation of the Sri Lanka Police and Hospital authorities to educate three wheeler drivers on the value of human life, road discipline, prevention of accidents and the importance of being courteous to passengers.

The inaugural seminar will be held on Sunday March 19, 2006 from 4.30 to 6.30 p.m. at the IPM Secretariat. The inaugural seminar will be attended by the Three Wheeler Driver Association members of the Kirullapone area.

DIG Colombo Pujitha Jayasundera, Training Co-ordinator, Accident Service, National Hospital Colombo Pushpa Ramani Zoysa, President, IPM Sri Lanka Daya Bollegala will make presentations.

Director, Accident Service, National Hospital Colombo Dr. Anil Jasinghe and Director, Police, Public Relations Bureau SSP Rienzie Perera will be special guests.


General meeting

CHILAW: The Urban Development Authority Resthouse Managers' Association will hold their tri-monthly General Meeting at Heaven Holiday Resort, Chilaw on Friday, March 17 at 6.30 pm.

The meeting has been organised by Sarath Marasinghe, General Secretary of the association and will be presided by Wimal Perera, Chairman of the association.


Drama festival

COLOMBO:The inter house drama festival- 2006, organised by the Royal College Sinhala Drama Society will be held at Nawarangahala today at 3.00pm. Five dramas under the themes of "Andha, Kadaturawa, Thava Tathpara Keepayai, Para Wasa Atha and Aiyo Deiyo" will be staged


Fellowship dinner

COLOMBO: The Law Faculty Alumni Association of Colombo University has for many years committed to helping students gain access to scholarship and internship opportunities, professional placements, career guidance and academic support. The Alumni's annual fellowship dinner to raise funds for these purposes, will be held on March 18 at the Holiday Inn.


Alumni Association Peradeniya University

COLOMBO: The 15th Annual General Meeting of the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya (Colombo Chapter) was held recently. The new Executive committee was elected to represent over 1,600 members of the Association. The committee as outlined by the newly elected president. Zuhyle will play a more positive role articulating national issues in addition to carrying on its traditional functions.

New Law Society President

COLOMBO: Mahinda Lokuge was elected President of the Colombo Law Society for 2006/2007.

Lokuge, an active member of the Society since 1990 to date held the posts of Deputy President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Lokuge is an old boy of St. Aloysius College, Galle.
