New SLMM Head

COLOMBO: Major General Ulf Henricsson will assume his command as Head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) today.

He will takeover from Hagrup Haukland who has served both as Head of Mission and as Chief of Staff for the SLMM since established in 2002.

Peace journalism

COLOMBO: A seminar on peace journalism by the Sri Lanka Television Training Institute (SLTTI) in collaboration with the National Integration Unit of the Ministry of Constitutional Affairs and National Integration will be held on April 5 from 9.15 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.

Japanese Government scholarship

COLOMBO: The Japanese Government will award scholarships to Sri Lankan students under the Monbukagakusho Scholarship scheme 2007 in the categories of Postgraduate Research, Undergraduate and College of Technology.

The Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education at No. 18, Ward Place, Colombo 7, will distribute scholarship application forms from today. The closing date for application to the Ministry is May 5.
