Defence Ministry website changed
COLOMBO: The Defence, Public Security, Law and Order Ministry website
will be changed to www.defence.lk from May 22. The website now is
www.mod.gov.lk.
Walk to fight child hunger
COLOMBO: Walk the world, an event hosted to raise awareness about
child hunger will be held opposite Royal College on May 21 at 3.30 p.m.
The walk will lead to a cultural programme at Ladies College
Auditorium, Colombo 7. This programme will focus on the theme 'Peace and
equity to fight child hunger'.
The global event takes place on the same day at the same time in all
24 time zones, calling for an end to child hunger. The event is
organised by the United Nations World Food Programme.
Book release
COLOMBO: A book written about Islamic Art (Islamiyakala) by former
Daily News staffer and retired vice principal of Batticaloa Teachers
Training College Alhaj Kalabooshana M. S. A. Azees will be released on
May 22 at 5.00 p.m. at the Auditorium Al Hikna College Keselwatta
Colombo 01.
Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader Alhaj Rauff Hakeem will be the chief
guest while Presidential advisor A. H. M. Azwer will be the guest of
honour.
AlHaj Kalaiwathy Kaleel, vice President of the Sri Lanka Muslim media
forum will preside.
Painting exhibition
COLOMBO: An exhibition of paintings by Nalini Jayasuriya titled 'The
End is the Journey' will be held at the Indian Cultural Centre on May
25, 26 and 27.
The exhibition will commence on May 25 at 6.00 p.m. with a talk and a
slide show by the artist also titled 'The End is the journey': the end
may appear to be the final closure but it is not; you carry it to a new
experience".
The exhibition will be open from 10. 00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. |
