Wimal condemns Rupasinghe's decision

COLOMBO: JVP Propaganda Secretary and MP Wimal Weerawansa in a letter to the ITN Chairman, yesterday, condemned the decision to withdraw a scheduled open dialogue between Dr. Kumar Rupasinghe and himself on the Thulawa TV programme of today on NGOs.

Weerawansa's letter said that this dialogue was arranged following his interposing over the telephone into a previous Thulawa TV programme conducted on May 18, in the course of which Dr. Rupasinghe was highly critical of the JVP activities.

On that occasion Weerawansa challenged Dr. Kumar Rupasinghe to come for an open dialogue on the subject of Non-Governmental Organisations. Dr. Rupasinghe accepted this challenge and the dialogue on Thulawa was arranged accordingly for May 25 with the consensus of programme producers.

Weerawansa urged the Chairman to arrange this open dialogue in the interest of the regular viewers.
