UNP's 60th annual convention by year end

KANDY: Elaborate arrangements are being made to hold the UNP's 60th
annual convention by the end of this year, UNP Deputy General Secretary
Tissa Attanayake said.
Party re-organisation work will be completed before the 60th
convention giving the party a new vision and orientation.
Under this programme, weak electoral organisers will be replaced with
more vigorous campaigners giving pride of place to youth
representatives.
Youthful Provincial Council and Local Council Members will receive
preference under this programme.
He said there will also be changes in several party high posts before
the 60th convention.
Meanwhile, the party is yet to hold its 59th annual convention which
was indefinitely postponed last year. |
