SWIMMING: Mayumi Raheem of Rainbow Aquatic Club and Prabha Madhavi
Dharmadasa of Asian International School won women's 200m individual
medley and 100m backstroke respectively at the South Asian Games trial
meet continued at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool, Colombo yesterday.
Raheem, who established a Sri Lanka record in women's 100m back
stroke (one minute and 16.04 seconds) on the opening day, went on to win
200m medley as well. She clocked two minutes and 35.13 seconds to
register a convincing win over Mahamaya schoolgirl Mihiri
Kandanaarachchi (2:48.11).
Dharmadasa too had it y in women's 100m backstroke, returning a
timing of one minute and 14.92 seconds. Chathuri Abeykoon of Ladies
College and Chamari Kudabalage of Hillwood College, Kandy won second and
third places respectively.
Among others who won their respective events in yesterday's open
events were Imara Fahim of Elizabeth MIS (10:33.87 in women's 800m free
style), Stefan Daniel of Otters AC (25.64 seconds in men's 500m free
style), Govinmda Tidball of Rainbow AC (1:12.1 in men's 100m barest
stroke) and Heshan Unanboowa of Trinity College, Kandy (2:20.70 in men's
200m back stroke).
Among the final events to be worked off from 4 p.m. today are men's
and women's 100m butterfly stroke, women's 100m free style, men's 100m
back stroke, women's 100m back stroke and women's 400m individual
medley. |
