CRICKET: A twenty-20 overs cricket carnival has been organised by the Ravi Punchihewa Cricket Academy (RPCA), Matale at the S.B. Yalegama Stadium in Ukuwela on May 27 and 28.

Ravi Punchihewa briefing the media said that this cricket carnival has been shifted to the suburb of Ukuwela as the only Public Ground available at Matale which is the Bernard Aluwihare Stadium is still not fit to play cricket as there is no proper pitch to lay the matting.

This has inconvenienced schools and clubs in Matale for the past six months. The Matale Municipal Council should do something to expedite this matter and keep alive cricket in Matale.
