Women in Business Making 'Future Waves' in local professional services

CONSULTATION SERVICES: The needs of various business establishments are different . It is very convenient for any entrepreneur when tailor-made services are available to suit those requirements.

Very few identify that there is a high demand for these and that they could make good business.

INNOVATIVE: Rozanne Heyzer

Rightly identifying this demand, Rozanne Heyzer quit her job as an accountant with 12 years experience to venture into her own business. Being the only child in her family she wanted to become more independent and an innovative business woman.

An old girl of St. Lawrence's College Wellawatte, Rozanne joined Royal Institute to do her London A levels .

Then she obtained her CIMA and MBA at the Sri Jayawardenapura University.

While working as an accountant in several places she realised the needs of the business community and the high demand for various management projects. Future Wave Corporate Solutions emerged in 2002 to meet this requirement .

"I started business with International Foodstuff Company (Pvt) Ltd headed by Sarath De Silva which is an award winning company.

First it was my residence which gave me the office space and now I have a well- equipped office in Dehiwela.

"The customers coming to me are assured of their unique needs being assessed and met.

"I always focus on human capital, which is vital for any organisation. All solutions are designed with them in mind, and therefore make a positive impact to the bottom line she said.

"Also being a Management Accountant by profession, the areas of service have been designed in consultation with other professionals and therefore the service standards are ensured to be of the highest quality, Rozanne said.

Referring to the difficulties she had at the beginning she said that she found it a somewhat difficult to select the staff "but now that is my most valuable asset", she said.

Among the services provided by Future Wave are provision of consultancy services in all areas of management, preparation of feasibility reports, and business proposals, accounting assignments, carrying out internal audits, software solutions, and outsourcing of staff at all levels take an important place.

Future Wave has also conducted a large number of training programmes with both local and foreign resource personnel.

The main programme conducted with foreign personnel was with Dr. David Freemantle on "World Class Customer Service" and with Alan Fell on the "Balance Score Card".

These were very successful in participation, she said.

According to her calendar year, she conducts seminars, workshops whether it be one day, two day or residential workshops throughout the year.

Future Wave has been able to gain an encouraging response from its clientele and Rozanne enjoys a lot of job satisfaction.

Her vision is to be the best professional service provider.
