Security Forces carry out limited operations

The Security Forces yesterday too carried out limited operations in
the North and East targeting identified LTTE targets in order to prevent
any further LTTE attacks on civilians.
Military Spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe told the Daily News
that Air Force fighter jets took on LTTE targets in Sampur and
Thoppigala last morning.
He also added that identified LTTE targets in the Chalai in
Mullaitivu district and Iranamadu in the Kilinochchi district too came
under Air Force attacks yesterday between 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Government Defence Affairs Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella
told the Daily News that Security Forces are conducting those limited
operations to prevent further LTTE attacks targeting civilians.
"Following the twin claymore mine attacks on a passenger bus in
Kebithigollewa on Thursday we have received intelligence reports that
LTTE is planning to launch a few other attacks targeting civilians. We
have got information about the areas they plan to launch these attacks",
the Minister said.
"In order to prevent such attacks on civilians the Security Forces
conducted limited operations on identified, specific and precise LTTE
targets in the North and the East", the Minister said. |
