AMPARA: A cry of woman alerted home guards who rushed to the scene
where black-clad Tamil Tiger terrorists attempted to attack a farmer's
family around 7 pm on June 15.
A three member terrorist gang had tried to attack the farmer with
knives and clubs. The farmer Karunasena (46) fought with the terrorists.
One of the female terrorists had grabbed the infant from his wife who
was breast feeding the child, said Media Centre for National Security (MCNS)
sources.
However, the mother escaped from the clutches of the assailants and
raised cries.
The terrorists fled when home guards started firing. Fleeing
terrorists carried the infant with them.
Later the infant was found abandoned with knife injuries. The injured
were admitted to the hospital, sources said.
This terrorist attack was a part of the training given to newly
recruited LTTE young members. The massacre of 12 farmers in Welikande on
May 29 was also a part of the similar exercise to harden young LTTE
terrorists to commit murders, sources added. |
