Four critical in Colombo hospital

Injured by Thursday's brutal LTTE attack

COLOMBO: four are in critical condition of the nine patients dispatched from Anuradhapura Hospital to Colombo National Hospital after Thursday's LTTE terrorist attack on a civilian bus plying from Kanugahawewa to Kebithigollewa.

A ten-year-old girl was among the critical, Colombo General Hospital Director Dr. Hector Weerasinghe told the Daily News yesterday.

They were being treated for severe head injuries at the hospital's intensive care unit.

"Nine patients were transferred from Anuradhapura Hospital to Colombo. They were rushed to Colombo National Hospital on Thursday as they needed surgeries immediately," he said.

"They had been given neurological treatment as all of them had head injuries and fractures caused by the blast," he said.

Five of them were presently under neurological care and being treated for shock and trauma, he said.
