Cost of fertiliser affecting tea industry crop quality
The tea industry is predicting a major output
and quality crisis due to the high fertiliser prices with the
cessation of the tea subsidy from this year, industry sources said.
Due to the cessation of the fertiliser subsidy by the Government,
the prices have increased dramatically that resulted in most small
tea holders and certain regional plantation management companies
being reluctant to use fertiliser, Asia Siyaka Commodities (Pvt) Ltd
spokesman Dinal Fernando said.
