Cathay Pacific offers an international wilderness experience to
Lankan students
NEW EXPERIENCE: For the first time two students from Sri Lanka
are being offered the opportunity to participate in the International
Wilderness Experience 2006 from August 22-30 organised by Cathay Pacific
Airways.
The short listed Sri Lankan applicants will be called for interviews
on the July 18.
Cathay Pacific will fly 48 students between the ages of 16 and 18
from South Asia to Johannesburg, South Africa to learn about humanities
impact on the earth's ecology and participate in related numerous cross
cultural activities.
Cathay Pacific Airways is giving this opportunity to Sri Lankan
students as well, along with co-sponsor James Finlay and Co Colombo Ltd,
the General Sales Agent for Cathay Pacific.
The student ambassadors will have their air tickets, accommodation,
course fees and ground transport in South Africa sponsored by Cathay
Pacific while having to fund their travel insurance and pre-departure
preparations.
The International Wilderness Experience in its 12th consecutive year
gives the participants a unique opportunity.
Cathay Pacific's Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Ed Higgs
commented that they were much aware of the advantages of having a global
persepective of matters concerning the planet, and ecological issues are
no different".
The Chairman of James Finlay and Co Colombo Ltd. Kumar Jayasuriya
stated, "We believe this expedition will broaden their intellectual
horizons and help them to become responsible and productive citizens of
the world."
