Lanka-Vietnam boxing dual on Sunday
BOXING: The inaugural dual boxing meet between Sri Lanka and Vietnam
organised and conducted by the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka
for the MAS Holding trophy will be worked of at the Sugathadasa Stadium
on Saturday with the second leg of the meet scheduled for Monday in
Pannala.
This event will be of great significance for the Sri Lankan boxers
ahead of the tenth South Asian Games to be staged in Colombo next month.
This will be the third occasion where the Sri Lankan boxers will
figure in a dual meet at home following their confrontation against
India in 1995 and the Philippines last year.
The Sri Lankan team will comprise of seven boxers and the three
member women's team will include Asian championship gold medallist
Anusha Kodituwakku of Slimline BC, Chandrika Guruge (Sri Lanka Army BC)
and Nilmini Jayasinghe (Slimline BC).
The Sri Lanka men's boxing team:

BC - 51 kgs), Manju Wanniarachchi (Slimline BC - 54 kgs), Kamal Sameera
(Slimline - 57 kgs), Gihan Weligalla (Sri Lanka Army BC - 60 kgs),
Nilantha Bandara (Sri Lanka Army BC 64 kgs), Samantha Indika Kumara (Slimline
- 69 kgs).
The Sri Lanka women's boxing team:
Chandrika Guruge (Sri Lanka Army BC - 46 kgs), Anusha Kodituwakku (Slimline
BC 48 kgs), Nilmini Jayasinghe (Slimline BC - 50 kgs).
