KILINOCHCHI: Swedish special envoy Anders Oljelund met LTTE's
political wing leader S.P. Thamilselvan in Kilinochchi yesterday.
Oljelund had discussions with Tamilselvan over the issue of three
members from Denmark, Finland and Sweden, the European Union countries,
represented in the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission. (SLMM)
The Swedish Special Envoy urged the LTTE's political wing leader to
reconsider their stance on removing EU members in the SLMM. However,
Thamilselvan has rejected the suggestions made by the Swedish special
envoy on accepting the SLMM officials from the EU member countries.
Thamilselvan also reiterated that deadline issued by the LTTE till
September 1, 2006 with regard to the removal of the three officials from
the European Union countries would remain unchanged.
The Swedish envoy arrived in the island on Tuesday and had
discussions with officials of the Peace Secretariat, and Minister
