Forces take over Sampur
Security Forces yesterday re-captured the
strategic Sampur area, which was an LTTE stronghold for launching
attacks on the Trincomalee harbour and vital installations in the
port city, following over one week of heavy fighting.

Police buses escape claymore attack
Two buses transporting 30 Policemen narrowly
escaped being caught in an LTTE claymore mine in Medawachchiya
yesterday morning. LTTE terrorists detonated two claymore mines
targeting the buses carrying policemen on a special duty assignment
to Kantale.
