Ranjith Fernando appointed Chairman of United Motors
APPOINTMENT: Ranjith Fernando recently took over the reins as
Chairman of United Motors from Mahendra Amarasuriya who held this
position for 13 years.
Fernando was a former Secretary of the Ministry of Enterprise
Development, Industrial Promotion, Industrial Policy and Constitutional
Affairs.
He was also formerly the CEO and a Director of the National
Development Bank in Sri Lanka.
Central Finance appoints new Chairman
APPOINTMENT:S.V. Wanigasekera was appointed Chairman of the Board of
Directors of Central Finance CO. Ltd on the retirement of Chandra
Wijenaike.
Wanigasekera has served on the Board of Central Finance Co. Ltd.
since 1983, and prior to this was the first Sri Lankan Chairman / CEO of
Ceylon Tobacco Co. Ltd., and presently on the Directorate of several
Group and public companies.
Wanigasekera is a Bachelor of Commerce (London), and Charted
Accountant of the English and Sri Lanka Institutes.
In deference to the wishes expressed by shareholders at the Annual
General Meeting held on August 24, 2006, that Chandra Wijenaike should
continue his association with the Company he founded and so ably guided
to its present preeminent position, the Board resolved that Wijenaike
continue in an honorary capacity and be designated 'President'. |
