Lanka Princess, SriLankan Airlines win TTSC sixes

CRICKET: The 30th Annual Travel Trade Softball cricket Sixes were concluded successfully at the Shalika Grounds and S.S. Senanayake College Grounds recently. The event which is the most popular in the sports calendar of the TTSC was sponsored for the 10th successive year by Aitken Spence Travels.

In the men's tournament Lanka Princess Hotel beat SriLankan Airlines in the final to win the championship for the first time. Mahesh Jayasinghe scored 20 for SriLankan Airlines while Dinesh Silva took 2 wickets for 4 runs. In reply Rajitha Kumara scored 21 not out for Lanka Princess Hotel.

In the ladies tournament SriLankan Airlines beat Club Hotel Dolphin in the last ball of the match. The SriLankan Airlines had to score 6 runs to win off the last ball. Niluksha Rodrigo with a fine six saw his side safely to victory. Sixty nine men's teams and 17 women's teams participated at the tournament.

The chief guest Ravi Subramaniam Director, General Manager of Aitken Spence Travels gave away the awards.

Finals: Lanka Princess (49/1 in 3.4 overs) beat SriLankan Airlines 48/5 in 5 overs).

Women's quarter-finals: SriLankan Airlines beat Sigiriya Village, Ayurveda pavilion beat Walkers Torus, Club Hotel Dolphin beat Cinnamon Grand, Trans Asia Hotel beat Pan Lanka Travels.

Semi-finals: SriLankan Airlines (57/0) beat Ayurveda Pavilion (56/2), Club Hotel Dolphin (42/2) beat Trans Asia Hotel (43/2).

Final: SriLankan Airlines (47/2) beat Club Hotel Dolphin (46/1).
