Sylvestrians to play 'B' Division

RUGBY: St. Sylvesters' College, Kandy, with an unbeaten record became Group C champions of the schools Singer Shield rugby tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association will be promoted to the 'B' Division next season.

In the tournament matches they beat Richmond College, Galle 33-5, beat Zahira College, Colombo 28-13 in Colombo, beat St. Aloysius' College, Galle 58-5, beat Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa 9-3, beat Nalanda Vidyalaya, Colombo 13-5, beat Lumbini College, Colombo 36-0.

The team was led by Sanka S. Silva and the other members of the team were M. J. I. Jaleel, M. K. I. Piyatillake, G. M. B. S. Bandara, S. M. Rajakaruna, D. B. Dissanayake, A. Fahad, Ishanda V. Jayatillake, J. M. Pyar, R. G. A. Perera, P. S. B. Ratnayake, R. M. Godamunne, B. H. Madawala, S. M. Eriyagama, Vimukthi Amila, I. Amerasinghe, R. I. Ekanayake, A. P. Jayaratne, K. N. S. Athharagalla, S. Vinuth. The team also won the Plate championship at the Central Province Schools Seven-a-side rugby championship organised by the Central Province Rugby Football Union in connection with the Centenary celebrations of the Kandy Youth Men's Christian Association earlier this year.

The team was coached by Aruna Rankothge with A. B. Dodanwala as the Master-in-Charge cum Prefect of Games who did all the motivations for the ruggerites.
