Smith Natural Virgin coconut oil wins Pro Foods/Pro Pack 2006 Awards
ACCOLADE: Smith Natural Virgin Coconut Oil, freshly launched product
of Smith Foods (Pvt) Ltd. won the award for the best natural product at
the recently concluded 'Pro foods /Pro pack 2006' exhibition in Colombo.

The award was presented at a ceremony held on Saturday, by President,
Sri Lanka Food Processors' Association (SLFPA) Nanda B. Kohona to Asanka
Ekanayake, Managing Director-Smith Clan (Pvt) Ltd., on behalf of Sumith
Ekanayake, Chairman, Smith Foods (Pvt) Ltd.
The winner was selected among several competitors who participated at
the exhibition held at the BMICH last week. The exhibition titled 'Pro
foods /Pro pack 2006' was organized by Processed Foods Development
Initiative (Pvt) Ltd., SLFPA, Ministry of Industrial Development and the
National Agribusiness Council.
"This is the first time we participated in an exhibition in Sri Lanka
and we are indeed very proud to have won this award after such a short
time period of launching Virgin Coconut Oil." said Telley Fernando,
General Manager, Smith Foods (Pvt) Ltd.
Fernando said that unlike manual methods of making Natural Virgin
Coconut Oil the entire process is done under hygienic conditions and
strict quality assurance system using HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical
Control Point).
Smith Foods (Pvt) Ltd., is a coconut processing company manufacturing
coconut kernel based food products. The company is a BOI approved
company situated in Chilaw.
Smith Natural Virgin Coconut Oil is manufactured using 100% natural
products and using only mechanical extraction and filtration methods. No
chemicals, preservatives, additives, artificial colours or artificial
flavours are used in the manufacturing process. The oils are not
refined, bleached, deodorized or hydrogenated. Smith Natural Virgin
Coconut Oil is available at all leading supermarkets in Sri Lanka.
Smith Natural Virgin Coconut Oil is also available in Coco Carotino',
Coco Cumino, Coco Fennel and Coco Chilli. These unique products bring
