Govt to provide better electricity facilities

EHELIYAGODA: "With the idea of providing a trouble free and better
electricity facilities for the consumers, it is hoped to complete the
electricity generating projects now under construction, by the year 2010
and to reduce the charges by 10 per cent," said Minister of Power and
Energy, W. D. J. Seneviratna, after opening Paleegala-Kahatagahahena
electricity supplying project constructed under Chinese aid.
With the opening of this electricity project more than two hundred
families in Paleegala, Nedurana, Boraluwa and Kahatagahahena are
benefited.
Ellawala-Pitakanda electricity supplying scheme too also opened by
Minister Seneviratna and Minister of Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation,
Pavithra Wanniarachchi. These two projects were constructed under the
Chinese aid.
Minister Seneviratna pointed out that the present government though
it has to tackle the ethnic problem in the North and East, try its best
to provide the basic facilities to the people throughout the country.
Minister of Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation, Pavithra Wanniarachchi
said electricity has become one of the most demanded and difficult to
maintain basic facilities for the nation.
But the present government take every measures to fulfil the
customers demand related to electricity in the near future.
SLFP organiser, Asoka Jayawardana, Eheliyagoda PS vice-chairman,
Tilak Rohana Jayawickrama, PS members, Sunil Karunaratna, H. T.
Tilakaratna and several other officials were also participated. |
