Notice issued on former SDA Chairman
COLOMBO: The Colombo Fort Magistrate court issued a warrant on
September 13, on the Southern Development Authority former Chairman for
failing to present himself in courts.
He was initially summoned to be present for questioning at the CID
and his failure to cooperate resulted in him being issued this summons.
However he had given a statement to the CID on September 11 relating
to a fraud committed by the present management on the local investors of
Ruhuna 2001 Multivision (Pvt) Ltd.
It is believed that the sum in dispute, amounts to US $ 1 million
that has deprived a local investor of his investment and a stake in the
Pay Television Company.
This matter is currently under litigation in the Supreme Court and
the District Court. The Magistrate Court summoned him for questioning to
obtain a statement to extract information which will shed further light
into the Multivision operations during its formation when he was the SDA
Chairman and subsequently when the investors in Canada, Rystar was
issued a cease order by the Canadian Stock Exchange.
The CID has thus far questioned the following individuals who are
purporting to be company's present directors. They are: Suresh
Edirisinghe, Chandima Deepal Perera and Christopher Rodrigo. |
