SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit launches website
COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit launched its
website www.airforce.lk/sevavanitha recently at the SLAF Katunayake
Base.
Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) President Nelun Goonetileke vouched to
mobilise all forces to create a socially safer environment for the
families of war heroes.
She said the SVU would, wherever possible, cater to the needs of
those families.
The SVU has launched 100 scholarships for the children of air force
personnel and is providing lands or houses for family members of those
killed in action, missing in action and wounded in action.
"The loved ones of those who sacrificed their lives and others who
have become permanent victims crave for love and care.
We should therefore, as members of the SVU, invariably become a part
and parcel of creating a better tomorrow for them," she said.
The future projects include elevation of SLAF pre-schools and primary
schools into international standards, providing housing loans and
donations for differently-abled service and civil personnel for
construction and improvements of their houses, providing financial
support and equipment for self-employment of the wounded.
The SVU's objectives are to alleviate hardships faced by families of
deceased and injured SLAF personnel, through dedicated and organised
involvement of its members who are spouses of serving personnel. |
