Ambanpola murder case: Accused sentenced to death

KURUNEGALA: The accused convicted in the Ambanpola murder case was
sentenced to death by the Kurunegala High Court Judge Tuder Gunaratne on
Tuesday. The accused Shelton Salgadu was found guilty of committing the
murder of R.D. Rupatunge of the same area on 19th of September 1979.
The accused Shelton Salgadu had assaulted him with an iron bar.
Rupatunge sustained nine injuries on his head as a result of the
assault.
The defence plea by the accused's counsel was rejected by the High
Court Judge and he imposed the death sentence. The prosecution had
proved guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
