New CPC Chairman for cost-cutting

APPOINTMENT: The newly appointed Chairman of the Ceylon
Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will specially focus on cost reduction in
CPC operations and explore the possibility of reducing local fuel
prices.
Chairman of the CPC Asantha de Mel told Daily News his main priority
will be cost reduction in the Corporation and delivering its benefits to
the consumers.
Operations and systems of the CPC should be carefully studied to find
better solutions to reduce the costs of the CPC. It is important to find
ways on reducing fuel prices due to their effect on other consumer
goods, he said.
The newly appointed Chairman also said that he will focus on
strengthening the oil distribution process too.
Talking about the CPC trade unions de Mel said he expects to maintain
a cordial relationships with the trade unions for the development of the
Corporation.
Former CPC Chairman Jaliya Medagama resigned Saturday due to personal
reasons and former test cricketer Asantha de Mel assumed position of
Chairman recently. |
