Cambrian six-a-side cricket tourney on October 28 and 29

CRICKET: Cambrian Cricket Wing has organised an invitation Six-A-Side cricket tournament involving all leading clubs in the cricket and music loving city of Moratuwa on the 28th and 29th of October, 2006. Tournament will be held at the Moratuwa Stadium at the venue where most of the Moratuwites gather for many functions in the city. Tournament commences both days at 9.00 a.m.

According to the present President and the Founder of the Wing, Bandula De Silva, there will be two days of entertaining and exiting cricket available for our cricket loving people as he expects many renowned and talented first class cricketers to take the field representing all first class clubs in the island.

De Silva also stated that the Cambrian Cricket Wing plans to present many prizes and trophies to the teams and individual players who perform well.

SSC, NCC, CCC, Bloomfield, Moors, Tamil Union, Colts, BRC, Moratuwa SC, Sebastianites, Old Cambrians, Panadura SC, Ambalangoda SC, Galle CC, Saracens, Ragama SC, Chilaw Marians, Kurunegala SC, Air Force, Police, Army, Catamarans SC, Lankans SC and Baduraliya SC teams were invited to participate in the tournament.

Cambrian Cricket Wing was started in the year 2000 by some of the renowned past cricketers of Prince of Wales College together with a group of enthusiastic cricket lovers of Moratuwa with the sole motive of assisting Cambrian cricket and other sports activities. Since the inauguration of the Wing they have organised many projects and helped the school in its sports activities.

Mr. De Silva also said that the Technical Committee of the Tournament comprises of experience first class cricketers produced by Prince of Wales College such as Lantra Fernando, Pemlal Fernando, Gamini Silva & Wasanthalal Fernando.

He also thanked sponsors East West Marketing Ltd., Ceylon Cold Stores, Lion Brewery Ltd., Puwakaramba Agencies and Lankabell for there unstinted support towards this event. He also thanked all organisations who have pledged to provide assistance by displaying a banner at the event. Mr. De Silva specially expressed his sincere thanks to the Mayor & Deputy Mayor of Moratuwa for their ever willing support.
