Development Budget on November 14
PRESIDENT Mahinda Rajapaksa will present the
Second Budget of his Government for the Year 2007 as its Finance
Minister on November 14, which lays emphasis on accelerated
development of infrastructure, human resource development and
expansion of regional development while also ensuring measures
towards generating fiscal savings.

Navy destroys LTTE arms trawler
THE Navy yesterday destroyed an LTTE trawler
transporting a huge arms cargo off the Mannar seas. Naval troops
engaged in intensified patrols in the sea off Mannar sunk the
suspected LTTE arms smuggling trawler after detecting it close to
the Indian maritime boundary around 35 nautical miles west of Arippu.
