Pakistan arrests six more Indian fishermen
PAKISTAN: Pakistan has arrested six Indian fishermen for illegally
entering the country's territorial waters, raising the number of
detentions to 28 this week, an official said on Friday.
The latest arrests were made 50 km (30 miles) inside Pakistan's
exclusive economic zone waters on Thursday, a security official said.
Security forces arrested 22 Indan fishermen and impounded six boats
on Wednesday.
"We have had to make the arrests because the Indian fishermen keep on
straying into our waters time and again despite several warnings to them
to keep away," said security official, Atiq-ur-Rehman.
"We first warned them to go away but when they didn't heed our
warnings we arrested them," he said.
Hundreds of Indian fishermen are languishing in Pakistani jails after
being handed over to the police by maritime security forces.
