Sri Lanka women cricketers in seven wicket win
CRICKET: Sri Lanka Women's Cricket Team began their bid for
the 3rd Asia Cup on a positive note by comprehensively beating Pakistan
by Seven wickets at Jaipur on Thursday. Skipper Sahikala Siriwardena led
from the front by capturing four wickets and scoring 44 runs.
The Sri Lankan skipper was ably supported by Chamri Polgampola who
picked up two wickets and compiled a patient 53. Siriwardena and
Polgampola were involved in a crucial 94 run partnership for the 2nd
wicket. Siriwardena was declared the Player of the Match for her
efforts.
Winning the toss Sri Lanka invited Pakistan to bat and restricted
them to a modest total of 147 for 9 wickets in the allocated 50 overs.
Sri lanka cruised to victory with 6.4 overs to spare.
Sri Lanka will meet hosts India tomorrow (December 15th) in their 2nd
match of the tournament. India beat Pakistan in the opening match of the
tournament on December 13th.
