GALLE: The ban on sand transportation from Hambantota to Galle and Matara districts will be over soon, said Ruwan de Silva, Chairman, Southern Province National Association for contractors.

In a letter, vehemently protesting against the ban, NACSL demanded the SPC Governor, Chief Minister, Provincial Chief Secretary and the three district Secretaries to withdraw the ban with immediate effect from January 01. "If not lifted the ban with immediate effect, we stage demonstrations against responsible authorities," Silva stressed.

Ruwan de Silva told the Daily News that the Governor had arranged a discussion with the three district secretaries as a result.

Daily News on its issue on January 15, highlighted the issue and is thoroughly delighted of gaining a response from the authorities.
