Shops were closed and public transport came to a halt in Santhiveli, Valachchenai yesterday as the funeral rites of Chief Poosari of the Santhiveli Pulleyar Kovil, Batticaloa Selliah Parameswara was performed yesterday. The Poosari was brutally gunned down by the LTTE for blessing President Mahinda Rajapaksa during his recent visit to Vakarai according to Hindu religious rituals.
