Govt. targets record Rs. 700 b revenue

The Government expects to earn a record revenue of Rs. 700 billion this year, Parliament was told yesterday. Making a special statement in the House, Finance and Government Revenue Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said the Government was able to fulfil the 2006 revenue target of Rs. 484 billion last year.

Sri Lanka has come in for high praise in the State of the World’s Children 2007 report published by UNICEF for successfully controlling epidemics and seacoasts achieved in respect of several health indicators, a Health Care and Nutrition Ministry spokesman said.

Lanka’s first oil hedge against price instability

Standard Chartered in ground-breaking role:

World crude oil prices are likely to increase next month with the conclusion of the Chinese New Year. Therefore it would have a direct impact on local petroleum prices, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Chairman and Managing Director Ashantha de Mel said.
