Renton to head tourism

COLOMBO: Former Chairman of Tourist Board (SLTB) Renton De Alwis has been re- appointed as the Chairman with effect from yesterday. This is the third occasion he has been appointed to this position.

A former board member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association in Singapore he was also involved in the Chamber of Commerce for a long period.

Having worked in the private sector both in Sri Lanka and Singapore Alwis’s first assignment would be the World Travel Market, the largest travel exhibition in Germany starting next month.

Both the Tourist Hotels Association and the Sri Lanka Inbound Tour Operators expressed their pleasure with the Government’s decision to re appoint Alwis to this position.
