Prabhakaran cannot survive in democratic environment
COLOMBO: Social Service and Social Welfare Minister Douglas
Devananda in a statement yesterday said the LTTE terrorists led by
Prabhakaran cannot exist in a democratic setup under any circumstances.
“They are fearful to live in a peaceful atmosphere. The statement:
The political business of Prabhakaran and Co. will prosper only if the
war and destructions continue. If there is no war, Prabhakaran and Co.
would be closed down.
‘Prabhakaran is suffering from a mental disorder. I have well
understood mental disorder. Many hoped with the passage of time and with
the international pressure Prabhakaran will get rid of his mental
illness.
But, with the experience of the behaviour of the Tiger leadership
soon after the Indo-Lanka pact, they have come to the conclusion that is
no medicine to cure Prabhakaran’s mental illness.
Prabhakaran’s career has been that of killing his own colleagues who
slept in the same room invitees who shook hands with him, those who
speak the truth, those who support alternative political views, innocent
Tamil, Sinhala and Muslim citizens.
The politics of Prabhakaran and Co. is that either they should kill
somebody, or create a conducive environment for someone kill somebody.
Their political motto is “Kill” or “be Killed”.
History tells us of many lunatics like Prabhakaran with relish for
blood and flesh existed in many parts of the world but it doesn’t
indicate of any gains they had made by being so Hitler, Mussolini and
Pol-Pot, akin to Prabhakaran, have vanished from the earth leaving no
trace of their existence, leaving only painful memories.
The mental disorder of Prabhakaran and Co. has become a challenge to
all the communities in our country. It is a threat to humanity. I am of
the view that there is an effective cure for their mental illness.”
Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims, need to work closely. It is necessary,
that we need to see an end to this ongoing war waged by Prabhakaran and
Co. in the name of Tamil Speaking People against their wish. We also
need to create an environment conducive for all the communities to live
together with equal opportunities in a United Sri Lanka.
What is envisaged for the purpose is an honourable political
solution. While we are taking every conceivable step to dump Prabhakaran
and Co. to the rubbish bin of history, let all of us belonging to
different communities resort to a concerted effort towards realising a
political solution. |
