Lanka, a healthy base for mobile phones

Mobile Phones: Sri Lanka is one of the most potential markets for
mobile phones in Asia Pacific and this is very encouraging for a small
country like Sri Lanka said Nokia Senior Vice President Customer and
Market Operations Urpo Karjalainen at the Nokia Showcase 2007.
"Asia-Pacific will contribute significantly to the new billion
subscribers who are being connected daily. Both India and Indonesia are
among the top ten biggest markets for Nokia worldwide. India moved from
the fourth place to number three in 2006," he said. Nokia is bullish on
India, as the fastest growing wireless which market has emerged as the
third biggest location for the company in terms of sales.
Sri Lanka is one of the foremost potential markets in the Asian
region along with Bangaladesh, China and India. "These countries have
helped us achieve a significant growth in the volumes," he noted.
Nokia launched six new models removing barriers for widespread
adoption of business. The phones are to be launched later in the year in
Sri Lanka.
The company announced a trio of new Nokia Eseries devices, designed
for business professionals, including 'Nokia E61i' E mailer device and
the 'Nokia E65' slider. In addition the company also launched 'Nokia E90
Communicator' 'Nokia E65' 'Nokia 6110 Navigator.'
Nokia also showcased three new CDMA phones for the APC market Nokia
6088, 1325 an 1265. 'Nokia 6088' is a camera phone with Internet
browsing. |
