Sale of telecom services to N-E through third parties banned

The Defence Ministry yesterday directed the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission to ban the sale of all telecom services through third parties in the North and East after evidence linking the LTTE of using the retail network for terrorist activities, a release from the Defence Ministry said.

Australia likely to ban LTTE soon

It is believed that the Australian Government will make arrangements to ban the LTTE soon after Health Care and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva explained the ground situation of Sri Lanka to Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer during his current visit to Australia, Health Care and Nutrition Ministry sources said.
